    Líderes Campesinas made big news in October when they won the top prize in Regional Access Project Foundation’s Fast Pitch Competition. The nonprofit will apply the $25,000 award toward raising awareness of female farm workers issues including transportation, pesticide exposure, sexual and domestic violence, and sexually transmitted diseases.

    Healthy Richmond recently screened the film, Sin Padre, which attempts to discredit machismo culture with a story of a young man in the Mission District trying to find his masculinity without his father. Ironically, the film perpetuates stereotypes by portraying women spreading rumors, over-attaching to men, and having no self-determination.
