Brothers Make Amends In Wake of Sentence

Mar 11, 2013

The Beat Within

It feels nice to hear my older brother tell me he loves me and he cares. He used to tell me to go away, or he'd simply never give me attention or say anything like that. He used to tell me I’m always going to be locked up and that he hated me.

Since I last talked to him, I’ve been happy. He encouraged me to do good. He explained to me that every time I left the house that he was scared I wouldn’t come back. I told him I was sorry for making him scared. I told him I love him and that I want to start spending more time with him. So this is one of the best feelings, to finally have my older brother show me, that he cares.

This is dedicated to my brother Joseph.

To My Dearest Daughter -- Letter From a Lifer

    Jun 19, 2013

    The Beat Within

My Dear Child, Congratulations on making the Honor Roll! I am very proud of you! I knew you could raise your grades. Your mom told me that you have a 3.5 grade point average now, which means you are averaging around a B+. That’s very good, and you should be happy about this accomplishment.
