Finding Happiness Behind Bars

Jun 08, 2013

The Beat Within

Happiness seems so simple minded. Just a nine letter word that no one even knows how it feels. They think they’re happy when they have wealth, money, and so called friends? But are they really happy?

Money doesn’t buy happiness. Money makes you wealthy, but those ‘so called friends’ you hang around with we’re not sure if they’re in it for the money or in it for you. Happiness is more than a nine letter word. It doesn’t involve money or fame.

Happiness can mean so much. It can be the reaction you get from seeing someone. It can be having a simple but detailed conversation with your family or friends. It can be a state of mind. This state of mind can be expressed orally, physically, and mentally. Just find what makes you happy. Happiness will come.

Happiness is when I smile. When I smile I feel like a new mom seeing her newborn baby take her first steps. Or the time I had with my family that I took for granted. The laughs I had with my sister. Always telling me to do good and keep my head up. Even though my freedom was taken from me, I somehow manage to be happy and spread the happiness.

    The Beat Within

My Dear Child, Congratulations on making the Honor Roll! I am very proud of you! I knew you could raise your grades. Your mom told me that you have a 3.5 grade point average now, which means you are averaging around a B+. That’s very good, and you should be happy about this accomplishment.
